Arts
Many artists sell their creations in the area. If you're looking for something particular, contact the Valemount Visitor Centre in downtown Valemount and they'll point you in the right direction.
- The Mountain Driftwood Gallery in downtown Valemount features a variety of works by local Robson Valley artisans located just 10 kms south from Camp Blackman RV Park.
- Bryan Hannis' Just Earth Pottery is well known throughout BC for its beauty, practicality and durability and is just 15 kms south from the RV Park Campground.
- The Valemount Farmers Market runs Thursday afternoons from late June to September and is 10 kms South from the RV Park Campground.
- Valemount has a Heritage Art Walk in town.
- The Valemount and Area Museum is open May 15 – September 30. It has displays on railroad towns, Japanese internment camps, Valemount pioneers, local war heroes, and more and is 10 kms South from the RV Park Campground.
ATV/OHVing
Off roading is an awesome way to enjoy the Robson Valley and the Rockies.
- Minutes from downtown Valemount is the trailhead to the Westridge Family Loop and from there, there's hundreds of kms of trails and scenic vista. The fun starts just 15 kms south west of the RV Park Campground.
- For a real thrill, and jaw dropping views, do the Sea to Sky (Canoe Mountain) Trail. Start at Kinbasket Lake and travel 2,400 metres (8,000 ft) up to the peak on old forest service roads. The Hugh Allen Forest Service Road is a great route as well. All this is just 20-50 kms south of the RV Park Campground.
Fishing
- Yellowhead Lake is a popular destination a short drive away and has rainbow trout, Rocky Mountain whitefish and lake trout: 55 kms north east of Camp Blackman RV Park.
- Moose Lake has lake trout, rainbow and bull trout, whitefish, ling cod and kokanee and is about 50 kms north east of the RV Park Campground.
- Kinbasket Lake is a great place to set up camp and fish for rainbow and bull trout, whitefish and kokanee. There is a marina (Valemount Marina Association) down the lake about 30-40 kms from the RV Park Campground.
- The easiest access for Fraser River fishing is between Tete Jaune and Mount Robson and is about 11 to 28 kms away.
- There are also several creeks, great for fishing, that can be accessed via ATV.
Golf
Valemount Pines Golf and RV Park in Valemount is a 9 hole course with absoltely amazing views of the mountains. The Club opens after the snow clears, usually in mid-April and ends when the snow starts falling again in early November. The course is just 7 kms south of the RV Park Campground.
Hiking
Valemount is the perfect spot for hikers of all skills and fitness levels and trails are everywhere. Hiking is best done from mid-May to early October.
- Jackman Flats Provincial Park has
trails, protected plants, wildlife to watch and is only 4 kms north of Camp Blackman RV Park
- Terry Fox Mountain. Look-out on Highway 5 just 3 kms south of the RV Park. The Terry Fox trailhead is on highway 16 just 7 kms north east of the RV Park.
- You can spend a day or a week on the hundreds of kilometres of trails that wind throughout Mount Robson Provincial Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which starts 28 kms from Camp Blackman RV Park.
- Cranberry Marsh Loop has wildlife viewing platforms for the most spectacular bird watching opportunities in the region. More than 140 species of birds come to the marsh each year: 12 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park
- Mica Mountain is the location of William Roe’s famous Sasquatch sighting back in October 1955. It’s a 4.5 km (3 mi), one-way trip back in time on the Mica Mine Trail: 20 kms north west of the RV Park.
- The Selwyn Traverse Trail, will take you on an 11 km (7 mi), one-way journey across small creeks and through cedar forests and starts just 4km from Valemount.
- Off the Selwyn trail, the McKirdy Summit Trail weaves it's way through the boulder fields to reach the peak.
- Panoramic views of the Monashee, Cariboo and Rocky Mountain ranges can be had from the 13 km (8 mi) Canoe Mountain trip.
- For a great Family day, pack your picnic lunch and hike to Little Lost Lake. Spend the afternoon swimming, fishing or just playing on the beach.
- For a workout, climb the Mount Trudeau Trail — dotted with meandering creeks and wildflowers. How did it get it's name? It happened in 2006 and it was the people in Valemount who had been lobbying to have Ski Hill Mountain renamed in Trudeau's honour since he died in September 2000.
Horseback Riding
Three outfitters can get you cowboyed up for an amazing adventure
- Willow Ranch trail rides, lesson, demos, training and Irwin Insights courses: 12 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
- Cowgirl Up Adventures offers guided horseback riding tours, riding lessons, and custom guiding services in historic Tete Jaune Cache: 11 kms north of the RV Park Campground.
- Become a horse whisperer at Falling Star Ranch: 50 km north of the RV Park Campground.
Mountain Biking
Valemount has it's own mountain bike park, aptly named the Valemount Bike Park, and is only minutes from town to the trailheads. The park has 25 trails with varying degrees for all ages and abilities. Here are just a couple of the trails:
- Swift Creek is a 10-km-long round trip ride on a hand built old school cross country trail. The finish will utilize a bit of town road to return to the 5 Mile Road and ultimately back up to the staging area. This is more designed for hiking although bikes are allowed: 11 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
- Tech Zone is the name given to a chain of 2.5 km loops, situated in a small area accessed via Swift Creek, and provides some technically challenging trails.
- Inversion is a handmade cross country trail that is suitable for novice–intermediate riders. This is a great ride for anyone pedalling from the town site.
- Bacon by NDI is designed to be the ultimate integration of all the various bicycling handling skills, the idea behind our flow trail is to provide a low risk, gravity assisted trail which users of variable skill level can use to develop their skills. 2 km of berms, rollers and manageable jumps will flow you to the lower staging area and guarantee to put a smile on your face.

Canoe/Kayak
- Wind through the channels of Cranberry Marsh and have a look at over 140 species of birds that visit each year: 12 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
- Take your kayak to the Fraser River, launch at Tete Jaune and experience some fantastic white-water: 11 - 20 kms north of the RV Park Campground.
- Kinbasket Lake is close by and you can fish at the same time. Watch for areas of high wind: 20 - 30 kms north of the RV Park.
- Head to Mount Robson Provincial Park and launch in Yellowhead or Moose Lake
- Grab the canoe or kayak and spend six hours paddling the McLennan River: 11 kms south of RV Park.
White Water Rafting
Challenge the mighty Fraser River! Two outfitters can get you on the water:
- Mount Robson Whitewater Rafting offers 2.5, 3 and 6 hour trips. Located in full view of Mount Robson, approximately 90 km west of Jasper, this picturesque property is nestled along the shores of the Mighty Fraser River: 28 kms north of Camp Blackman RV Park.
- Stellar Descents Whitewater Rafting offers 4 different excursions to suit your needs. Whether you want a scenic float or a class 4 adventure, they have the trip for you: 11 kms north of the RV Park.
Winter
Dog Sledding
Dog sledding is Canada’s oldest form of winter transport! Cold Fire Creek provides various Musher tours with their friendly Alaskan Huskies. Do a 60 Minute Musher tour, or follow along ice-crusted rivers, and glide past frozen waterfalls during the 3-hour Moonshiners of Whiskey Creek tour. Climb up 1,000 vertical feet along the 100-year-old trap line when you sign up for the 4-hour Ghost of Cold Fire Creek tour: 27 kms north west of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
Ice Skating
Skate about or play a game of pond hockey in the meandering channels of Cranberry Marsh. You'll probably see some of the winter bird visitors at the same time. Outdoor skating season begins as soon as ice reaches the desired thickness for safety, which is entirely weather dependent, so check with the Valemount locals first to find out if conditions are OK. If indoor skating is your thing, take the family to public skating at the Canoe Valley Recreation Centre: 11 kms south of the RV Park.
Cross Country Skiing / Snowshoeing
Snow blankets the Valemount area from mid-November to April and sometimes beyond, burying the streams and brooks and capping off the majestic mountain peaks leaving a serene wilderness waiting to be explored.
- Book a scenic heli-snowshoe tour with Robson HeliMagic, taking you up on a guided five-hour trek around Berg Lake. Just 5 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
- Grab the family and your cross-country ski gear and head to Jackman Flats to explore the routes ranging from 1.4 km to 6.2 km.
- Ten Kilometres of groomed trails await at Camp Creek near the base of Canoe Mountain: 17 kms south of the RV Park
- If you're the hearty type, you can overnight snowshoe trek into the backcountry, staying at either the McKirdy or Clemina cabins, maintained by the Yellowhead Outdoor Recreation Association: 20-40kms south of the RV Park Campground.
- There’s also the Hermit Thrush Cabin. You can also stay at the Swift Creek and Dave Henry Lodge but they are only accessed by helicopter.
- The Overlander Falls hiking trails become snowshoe routes in winter and provide amazing views of the breathtaking Mount Robson Provincial Park area in winter: 30 kms north east of the RV Park.
Snowmobiling
Come along for the ride on some of the best sledding terrain in Canada and the Valemount area is undeniably, the sledding capital of BC. Picture postcard scenery and the ride of your life! Bring your own sled or contact Alpine Country Rentals or Frozen Pirate Snow Services and you'll be soon playing in the powder.
- Get an early start at Allen Creek — the first area to open each year: 43 kms south of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
- Looking to test your free-riding skills? Visit the Keyhole area for a variety of terrain that’s holds many opportunities to get airborne.
- If the snow is falling, head to Clemina Creek and ride into the trees for a spectacular day spent manoeuvring: 40 kms south of the RV Park.
- Get the family involved and give the Westridge Loop a try. Something for all skill levels, it’s got the perfect mix of terrain along with amazing views and a warming hut: 20 kms south west of the RV Park.
- Chappell Creek always has the prettiest powder: 60 kms south of the RV Park.
- Head up to Crystal Ridge and give Powerboarding a try at the world’s only sled assisted ski/snowboarding hill: 20 kms south of the RV Park.
Snowcat Skiing
- Cariboo Snowcat Skiing offers epic powder skiing. The snowcat takes you up the hill on a well maintained snow road and once at the top you ski down in wild amounts of powder snow: 27 kms north west of Camp Blackman RV Park Campground.
